We Shape the Future of Construction
We see building construction as so much more than concrete and rebar. Our approach builds new skillsets for technology-filled environments, designs new construction processes, and connects influential stakeholders in real estate development.
The School of Building Construction studies how building projects address the needs of society, the environment, and the economy, and how the built environment shapes those areas in turn. We work across multiple disciplines — architecture, engineering, finance, city planning, and public policy — to meet advancing needs for efficient, sustainable building practices.
Supply Chain Disruptions in Building/Construction Industry
Over the past year and a half, the pandemic has wreaked havoc on supply chains across the globe. In the construction sector, building materials are in short supply and have seen price spikes, driving up project and rebuilding costs and affecting companies ranging from contractors to insurers.
"It's a snowball effect," explains Pardis Pishad-Bozorgi, associate professor in the School of Building Construction and director of the Smart Built Environment Eco-System (Smart Bees) Laboratory at Georgia Tech.
BSBC Alumna Named Outstanding Young Alumni Award Honoree
Jacquelyn Renée Schneider (BC '06, MBA '18) is the 2022 recipient.
The Outstanding Young Alumni award is one of four categories honored at the Georgia Institute of Technology Alumni Association's Gold & White Honors Gala each year. It is given to a Georgia Tech alumnus/alumna who has not reached his/her fortieth birthday by February 4, 2022 and who has demonstrated outstanding leadership and service to Georgia Tech and the Georgia Tech Alumni Association, the community and his/her profession.
We sat down with Jacquelyn Renée Schneider to discuss her time in the School of Building Construction and her advice for current students and new alumni.
Our Undergraduates Brought a Robot to the Wreck Parade
Bachelor of Science in Building Construction ambassadors Caleb Enterkin and Naomi Censullo got Tech fans' attention when they participated in this year's Ramblin Wreck Parade. The School of Building Construction's classic car entry — Censullo's 1965 burgundy Ford Mustang with white leather interior — was followed by close industry friend Brasfield & Gorrie's Spot robot.
Give 'Em Hell, Caddell!
What do you get the "helluva engineer" in your life who has everything? For John Caddell's family, the answer was his own Ramblin' Wreck. His family surprised him for his 91st birthday with a near-perfect replica, complete with pennant flags that read, "Give 'em Hell, Caddell!"
John Caddell earned his bachelor's in architecture from Tech in 1952, before founding Caddell Construction. The John and Joyce Caddell Building, which houses our School, is named after John and his late wife, Joyce.
Associated Schools of Construction International Conference

The Georgia Tech School of Building Construction and Kennesaw State University Department of Construction Management will host the Annual Associated Schools of Construction International Conference, in-person on the Georgia Tech campus.
